I hereby do solemnly swear on an entire stack of nudie magazines that this is absolutely the last genuine MG34 part that I am going to buy.  I simply can not afford to buy any more. This particular part, the receiver cover, is a mighty important one for me to get hold of however, since the receiver cover is something that will show prominently in the new sprites.

Work has finally picked up on the other parts of the model.  I am in the process of turning a crude hunk of black walnut, courtesy of a tree next to my brother’s house, into a lovely new butt stock.  Also, thanks due in part to my having the afore mentioned receiver cover, I am banging together some pieces of wood that will become the core of the model’s receiver.  This core will be encased in polyester resin, which will be used to create the outer surface.  Finally, I have recently purchased a three foot long section of 11/2" aluminum tube, that will soon become the model’s barrel shroud, after a whole lot of holes get drilled into it.

Blue may be dominating the “Current Progress” diagram right now, but the next time I update this page, you will find it dominated by red!

BTW:  Hanging out on the Mos Eisley Police Department forum, the Star Wars forum I mentioned earlier,  has finally paid off, as I have recently obtained a well made drawing from one of its members.  A full size version of this drawing is now spread across my floor, and it looks like my progress can only accelerate from here.
